January 1997

Our January meeting was held on Tuesday, January 21st at ITT. In attendance were many ITT students!


David Fly from Bay Networks gave us a very informative presentation on networking basics and showed us a few of his company's new hubs and routers.

November 1996

Our November meeting was held on Tuesday, November 19th at our new meeting location - ITT Technical Institute. Steve Blizzard from Hewlett-Packard returned to to discuss HP's new NetServer product line with us. He also told us about a new HP printer/copier combination called a "Mopier" - REALLY cool!

October 1996

Novell and ETNUG jointly sponsered a seminar on NetWare 4.11 ("Green River") and IntraNetWare in place of our October meeting. The seminar was held on October 22nd at Rothchild's reception center in Ten Mile Center from 9am to Noon. A continental breakfast was provided and all attendees went home with nifty door prizes. Many thanks to Mike Powell for giving us a great presentation!

September 1996

The September meeting was held on September 17th at Computer Learning Center. This was a business meeting where we discussed key issues for the group (including programs and advertising) as it begins its new year. The following topics were voted on and passed by those attending the September meeting:

Meeting Schedule
We will be changing our meeting schedule from monthly to bi-monthly starting in January 1997. The thought behind this is to provide more time for good program development and to prevent burnout.

New Meeting Location!
Due to the Computer Learning Center increasing their evening course offerings, we can no longer be guaranteed a meeting room there. So, starting in November we will be changing our meeting location to ITT Technical Institute. (Maps will be online soon!)

New Membership Rate for Students!
We would like to encourage participation of students in ETNUG (especially now that we are meeting at ITT!), so we have instigated a new membership rate of $15.00 for students.

 June 1996

The June meeting was held on Tuesday, June 18th. Steve Blizzard, a Knoxville sales rep for Hewlett-Packard, gave us an informal talk about HP's new line of Personal Computers, printers, and UPSes, as well as some of their leasing and warranty options for businesses.

May 1996

The May meeting was held on Tuesday, May 21st. Mike Powell and Mickey Pugh from Novell Atlanta spoke to us about Novell's World Wide Web Server product and related Internet access products and some of the new features which will be in the next release of NetWare.

April 1996

The April meeting was held on Tuesday, April 16th. The topic was the new 32-bit Client for DOS and Windows 3.1 presented by Jennifer Higgs. The client is available on the BBS for download as well as from Novell's FTP Site - DW32NA.EXE for the Network Install version or DW32DA.EXE for the Floppy Disk Install version (files are approximately 5 mb).

March 1996

The March 1996 meeting was held on Tuesday, March 19th. The topic was upgrading from Netware 3.x to Netware 4.1 and it was presented by Allen Brymer, an ETNUG member employed by Baptist Hospital. Thanks Allen!
