Provided assistance to developers and Oracle DBAs with troubleshooting server performance and connectivity issues, attachment printing problems, and software installation/configuration and tuning.   Compiled support documentation, system configuration information, and training/demos for administration personnel in Oak Ridge, Boyers, and DC.  Developed a process to monitor the application’s run status and restart it if required.  Assisted in collection and compilation of pilot program performance data.  Wrote Unix shell scripts to automate collecting volatile files for the rdist configuration. Installed Tripwire to monitor file system modifications and mail reports.  Configured logwatch to scan the logfiles and mail reports.  Wrote Unix shell scripts to scan for new kernal patches and driver updates and automate the patch-gathering process to check for and download patches daily to keep servers current.

For FBI EFCON2 project: Installed, configured, and patched Solaris 8 on Sun E-450s, E-220s, and Ultrasparc 5 workstations.  Set up Solaris jumpstart installation servers.  Set up and diagnosed performance issues with A3500 (SCSI and Fiber channel) RAID controllers and D1000 drive arrays.  Worked with Sun support technician to install Sun Cluster 2.2.  Installed, tested, and populated high capacity tape library with media.  Installed NIS+ server.  Created user accounts and networked all computers for a Veritas Volume Manager class, the Oracle development environment, and application testing in Clarksburg, WV.  As part of the security audit, worked with FBI employees collecting information on how the system was configured and how it responded to specific attacks.

For FBI ECHECK project:  Installed Solaris 8 on Oak Ridge Ultra-80 and Blade-100 development servers using jumpstart configs from servers in the FBI datacenter.   Installed and configured Sun Multipack disk array and 4mm/8mm tape drives for Amanda backups.  NIS+, SSH, and samba shares were set up for developers.  Downloaded recommended, security, and supporting patches daily and linked into the relevant directories.  Applied patches as required.  Installed CheckPoint 4.1 firewall on Ultra-5 and set up Windows 2000 system as GUI firewall monitor.  Traveled to Clarksburg, WV to reconfigure servers in their new location, made required changes to firewall rules, installed bind and configured the zone files.

Contracted with a large regional Internet Service Provider to assist in standardization of over 20 subsidiary ISPs as they were purchased and assimilated.  Installed, upgraded, and migrated web, DNS, and mail servers along with their associated user accounts and data.  Installed and configured MRTG monitoring software to facilitate remote management of servers (Solaris, BSDI, Red Hat and Debian Linux) and networking equipment (TNTs, PM3s, MAXs, routers, switches, etc.) at sites throughout the Southeast region.  Implemented backup solutions for Solaris, BSD, and Red Hat servers.  Mounted DATs/DLTs and performed backups (Veritas Backup Exec, dump).   Managed Apache and Stronghold Web Servers, installed secure web sites (with shared and individual secure certificates).  Designed and maintained web sites, developed HTML and Perl scripts, and packaged and distributed applications.   Provided escalated (top-tier) Unix technical support/troubleshooting as required by Help Desk.
