FemmeNet is a WWIV-based Network devoted to General Interest with an emphasis on female SysOps and Users. All genders are welcome, but active boards must have a female SL-255 SysOp.
FemmeNet was started because ten or so female sysops in Jessica
Lovecraft's Female SysOps sub decided that a network where all the sysops were female
might be interesting and fun! We currently have about 15 systems and will add more as they
apply.
The original Network Coordinator of FemmeNet was Ronda of Ronda's Riverboat BBS. She did a
great job of running the network, and we'll miss her. As of October 1st, 1995, White Queen
took over as NC. She also runs a full-time mail server for FemmeNet.
FemmeNet is now available via Frank Reid's PPP
Software!" To learn more about using the Internet to send your WWIV
packets, click here.
The purpose of FemmeNet in the BBS Community
FemmeNet is a "general interest network" like FidoNet, WWIVnet, WWIVlink & ICEnet. This network is
based on three things:
Who Can Join The Net?
Anyone running a Bulletin Board that can use Wayne Bell's NETWORK.EXE program (Current
version: NET36) or the PPP Project.
Anyone else running a NET3x compatible system (WWIV and
VBBS are the most popular) is welcome.
These BBS should be 24 hour\public BBS's, but private or part-time BBS can be allowed into
the network if 1@1 grants a waiver to the BBS.
